Animals in need

Last week we asked you to donate a pint of blood. This week, we’re asking you to make a contribution to our local animal shelters. During the holiday season, shelters experience a decrease in donations of food and funds. Many of the shelters are at full capacity, meaning donations are crucial. It’d be great if everyone could adopt an animal, but that simply isn’t realistic. What you can do is participate in the Angel Tree Program. Head to Kenar Pet Resort (3633 Garfield Avenue in Carmichael) and pick a card off the Angel Tree. Each card features a photo of a homeless animal, along with a list of items from its wish list (think food, toys and pet-care products). Simply purchase an item off the list and hand it over to the staff at Kenar, who will deliver the items to our local shelters, spreading joy to our four-legged friends.
