All we are is dust in the wind
A group of Tibetan Buddhist monks have traveled to Sacramento from their monastery in India to build us a mandala. The mandala, created by funneling sand of various colors into intricate patterns over the course of several days, is constructed for planetary healing and then destroyed to symbolize the impermanence of life. The public is invited to watch its construction from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday. Admission is free. The monks will also offer lectures on Buddhism and exhibitions of sacred dance and debate. These events are $20. All the money goes toward the expenses of monastery students.
