All together now
For years, the Artists’ Collaborative Gallery reigned in Old Sacramento. But it closed this year and after a brief hiatus reopened at 910 15th Street, next-door to the Sky Bar and the Torch Club. Twenty-five artists have been crammed into the new space, and their work includes oils, pastels, acrylics, watercolors, collage, glass, ceramics, photography, jewelry, sculpture, gourds, wood and textiles. Heidi Murray’s “Different Views” offers a contrast in clay—of a finely sculpted face, caught in a permanent upward gaze, plunked on a dark, amorphous body. David Budinski’s untitled photograph of colored glass bottlenecks threaded on rusted wire makes for an intriguing play of light. While others focus on more contemporary designs and metals, Duke Williams’ classic jewelry in sterling silver hearkens back to the days of starlet glamour early in the last century. His earrings will make your wallet twitch. For more information, call (916) 444-3764.
