Even if you’re the kind of person who equates watching sporting events with folding laundry for entertainment value, chances are you still manage to muster up some kind of athletic fervor when the Olympics come around. The Olympic “go for the gold” spirit is just too infectious to ignore—especially when it’s bearing down on your hometown. This Saturday, the Olympic Torch will be relayed right through our city to a community celebration in Old Sacramento. Catch the torch en route in various neighborhoods or park yourself in Ol’ Sac at 5:30 p.m. for the music, free tours of the Discovery and Railroad Museums, food and the ceremonial lighting of the cauldron at 7:45 p.m. Visit www.cityofsacramento.org for relay route or information.
