Imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, but being imitated by someone in front of a live audience or millions of TV watchers can be embarrassing. Well, except for the people in the audience, then it’s freaking hilarious—especially when it’s Pablo Francisco doing the impersonations. The comedian can do voice-over master Don LaFontaine and transition to airhead hair-whipping Keanu Reeves and then pull out the still-trying-to-sound-Austrian accent of our dear sweet governator without breaking a sweat. Then he imitates the sounds at a techno club and it’s all over. Francisco has been on Comedy Central, The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and a cast member of Mad TV, and now he’s making his way back to Punch Line. After his show, you won’t have to do sit-ups for a week.
Pablo Francisco will perform Thursday, January 7, at 8 p.m.; Friday, January 8 and Saturday, January 9, at 8 and 10 p.m.; Sunday, January 10 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $25. Punch Line, 2100 Arden Way; (916) 925-8500; www.punchlinecomedyclub.com.
