Abused horses
Veganism is a passive form of animal activism. But no matter what one’s diet consists of, one can still act on the behalf of animals. For instance, Horses’ Honor rescue and sanctuary in Auburn rehabilitates abused or slaughter-bound equines. The nonprofit just held its annual tack (horseback-riding equipment) sale, its “single largest source of revenue” last Saturday. But one can still gear up at the Horses’ Honor Tack Store inside of the Echo Valley Ranch feed store (205 Nevada Street in Auburn). No need for tack? No problem: Old-fashioned donations also help save the lives of these intelligent, sensitive creatures. Visit www.horseshonor.org for more info.
