A little bit gospel and quite a bit gay

The Moon Lecture Series at St. Mark’s Methodist Church kicks off this week with a one-two punch of Christianity and homosexuality, featuring speakers Bishop Gene Robinson of New Hampshire (now retired, he was the first openly gay priest ordained a bishop in a major American denomination) and singer-songwriter Jennifer Knapp, who made two records as a contemporary Christian artist before coming out as a lesbian in 2010. It’s a sure bet that the relationship of Christian faith to sexual orientation will be among the topics. The lecture is Friday, August 12, at 7:30 p.m., at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, 2391 St. Mark’s Way in Sacramento. Tickets are $15-$25; for more information, call (916) 483-7848 or visit the website at www.stmarksumc.com/upcomingmoon.
