PostSecret blog editor Frank Warren’s fourth collection features never-before-shared confessions from people across the globe. As in previous books, the anonymous submissions survey human experience—from love (“I kicked cocaine for her”) to loss (“She has no idea I’m leaving”), despair (“I am afraid that this is the climax of my life”) to triumph (“Kiss my ass, Fibromyalgia, I’m going to enjoy life anyway”). But what makes this collection stand out from the previous three is its loose chronological organization from childhood to old age. From the innermost thoughts of an 8th grader (“I’m terrified I’m not living life to its fullest”) or those of a baby boomer (“I’m 50 years old and I’m a virgin”), this book is a subtle yet powerful reminder that all of us, at every age, have secrets.
