A day for all things up
Not only is Saturday International Migratory Bird Day, but it’s also International Astronomy Day. Those more inclined to study planets than parrots should attend the Sacramento Valley Astronomy Society’s astro-party at Rusch Park. From noon until 8 p.m., an astronomical amount of activities will be available: portable planetarium shows, a “planet walk,” astrophotography, daytime telescope viewing (sun-shielded for your protection), computer software demonstrations and free informational Astro-paks. Science illustrator Chris Butler will be the star speaker. Should the skies stay clear past twilight, friendly neighborhood astronomers will offer their telescopes for scoping the starry, starry night until 10 p.m. This event is free. 7801 Auburn Blvd., Citrus Heights. Call 782-7111 or visit www.svas.org for more information.
