2000, a wasted odyssey
Don’t feel like shelling out $60 and driving to Oakland to ring in the millennium with Parliament/Funkadelic? Looking for the equivalent spectacle on a local level, something to tell the grandkids about when you’re gumming your golden memories for posterity? Here you go. Easily the most modest band in all of Northern California, Magnolia Thunderfinger—plus the Brodys and those ever-perky Skirts—equals brouhaha of the highest (or lowest) order. Factor in the venue, Old Ironsides, with Art pouring the drinks and Al at the door and quite possibly Skid walking the bar, and you’ve got the fixings for what looks like, gosh darn it, a real cool time. Seriously. 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, at Old Ironsides, 1901 10th St. (at S St.). Price $12.
