Issue: August 04, 2022
A note from Jason
The polls have closed, the Best of Chico votes are in, and the winners are … going to be announced in the September issue.
As we leave you waiting in anticipation, we offer the August print issue which hit stands this week. Headlining the pack of stories is “The watcher,” a cover feature by former CN&R staffer Howard Hardee about smoke spotter Ken Jordan, who keeps watch over our dry forests from atop the Colby Mountain fire lookout.
In local news this week, the city council finalized its wording for a “Quality of Life” act that will now be decided by voters in the November election. Supporters say that it gives citizens the power to rid public places of nuisance code violations, while critics believe its a thinly veiled anti-homeless measure. The polls shall tell where the community stands.
Take care out there,
Jason Cassidy
