Issue: June 06, 2019
Morning, readers!Does anybody love wine as much as I do? I'd wager a bet the answer is yes. Well, welcome to Butte County Wine Week! Actually, the festivities start tomorrow—and last 10 days—but you can get in the mood with the CN&R's special Wine Issue. In it, we check in with Bangor and Durham wineries, which have teamed up to form their own regions to pool resources and attract tourists; plus, I got a chance to sit down with Amy Hasle, owner of HoneyRun Winery, as she bids the industry farewell; and we also sat down with Safeway's popular "wine guy," Dave Mettler, to talk about choosing wines. There are other wine-centric stories throughout the issue, too, but make sure to pick up your paper copy for the impressive calendar of events created by local wineries, restaurants and bars to celebrate the fruit of the vine.In other news: The Chico City Council opts to bolster the police force despite outcry from community members; the Walmart Foundation sideswipes Safe Space and gives almost a million bucks solely to the Jesus Center; and Chico's fire chief talks about threats throughout the city.Until next time,Cheers!Meredith J. Cooper, managing editor
