Issue: October 27, 2016

Morning, readers!

What are you dressing up as this Halloween? I'm still trying to figure my costume out .... In the meantime, however, CN&R Staff Writer Ken Smith had some holiday fun in preparation for this weekend, catching up with some eccentric locals who take Halloween particularly seriously. I'm totally going to go paintball some zombies down in Oroville. And the haunted Asylum of the Dead sounds pretty rad, too. Check out his feature story to find out more.

In other news: Chico State Athletics' new social media campaign has drawn Internet ire in the form of derogatory, racist comments--but the student athletes involved aren't backing down; Councilwoman Ann Schwab defends her choice to recuse herself during certain votes that could be seen as conflicts; and the CN&R editorial board weighs in on local candidates with Chico City Council endorsements.

We're almost past this election--it's been a doozy! Check out all our election coverage so far this season here: https://newsreview.com/chico/elections/all?oid=324180

Also, we're looking for Local Heroes. These are folks who give their time, energy and heart to a cause (or causes) just because they care--not because they're paid for it. Let us know via email at cnrletters@newsreview.com.

And, as always, have a great week!
