Issue: September 15, 2016
Morning, readers!
All you golfers out there, check this out: A world-class golf resort, planned for just south of Lake Oroville, is on the brink of breaking ground. For this week's feature story, I do my best to describe the project, which includes an 18-hole course as well as a 9-hole, plus a villa-style hotel and three restaurants. Basically, it's exactly what's been envisioned for the Lake Oroville area since the dam was built almost 50 years ago. (Plus, there's a companion project with backing from the San Francisco 49ers that aims to enrich our area youth. Read on to find out more.
In other news: A local Native American journalist offers a personal take on the issues surrounding Standing Rock Reservation and the water protectors acting out against the Dakota Access Pipeline; downtown Oroville businesses work with the city on a compromise for Montgomery Street parking; and Editor Melissa Daugherty offers some first impressions of Chico City Council candidates based on their first forum.
As you know, there's more where that came from.
Until next week,
Meredith J. Cooper, managing editor
