Issue: January 28, 2016
Morning, readers!
Are you ready for the Oscars? There's been quite a bit of controversy over
the white-washedness of the awards this year, so instead of offering Oscar
predictions, one of our film critics offers his thoughts on the year's
best--and worst films, actors, etc.
In other news: Are you ready for the Keep Chico Weird madness that's
happening this weekend? Pick up a paper for your official program for the
weekend (art show today through Saturday, talent show Saturday!). Also, we
take a look at the region's new laws banning medical marijuana; we check in
on the Torres Community Shelter in its time of need; BEC weighs in on a
proposed solid waste treatment center in Glenn County; and there is now a
way to get free trees!
Until next week,
Meredith J. Cooper, managing editor
