Feel that chill?
It finally sort of feels like fall in Chico, perfect weather for
gathering inside around a table with a few friends and enjoying a board
game. For this week's cover story, Ken Smith spent many hours playing
games with newly made friends as he explored the popular, and very
social, gaming culture in town.
In local news, we take a look at a couple of stories affecting care of
local Chicoans: the cut in funding to the Esplanade House transitional
housing complex, and the continuation of health services at the Shalom
Free Clinic despite the closure of the organization's thrift store. And
in arts, we talk cassettes--as in two new cassette releases by Chico
bands--plus theater at Chico State and, in the wake of a successful
Chico Beer Week, our city's growing craft-beer scene.
Enjoy the seasonal weather.
