Issue: August 06, 2015
Morning, readers!
We've got a great selection of stories for you this week, the biggest
being an excellent profile by contributing writer Leslie Layton on
Sergio Garcia, a local man making strides on the national immigration
front. Garcia is the first undocumented immigrant to receive his license
to practice law--and he's not stopping there.
In other news: Butte County's public access TV channel has switched
operators and missions; the City Council chides Councilman Randall Stone
for remarks he made on Facebook; and if you're getting in the mood for
Burning Man, head over to Idea Fab Labs for a breathtaking photography
exhibit.
All that and more in this week's issue!
Until next week,
Meredith Cooper, associate editor
And now, for a shameless plug: The North Valley Community Foundation has
launched its Annie B's Community Drive, meaning there's an extra
$100,000 to be donated to local nonprofits through the end of September.
There are lots of worthy causes to get behind, including ours! The Chico
News & Review Foundation is raising funds to hire a full-time
investigative community reporter. To check out the list, or to donate,
