Issue: July 03, 2014
Good morning, readers,
This week's feature story is all about overcoming life's obstacles. When
personal trainer Angelo Poli suffered a back injury nearly a decade ago, he
went from a picture of fitness to walking with a cane. But he fought
through the crippling pain, and today he's stronger than ever. Frequent
CN&R contributor Vic Cantu tells his story of triumph.
In other news: Staff writer Ken Smith checks in on the peaceful protesters
at Food Not Bombs; News Editor Tom Gascoyne gets into the nitty gritty of
the Grand Jury Report; CN&R intern Ashiah Scharaga learns a few lessons in
Slow Theatre with Amanda Detmer; and fellow intern Katherine Green does a
Q&A with a local woman who makes some very unique jewelry (hint: she gets
her supplies from local gun ranges).
Happy almost Fourth of July!
