Issue: October 10, 2013
Best day of the week? Thursday!
It's Best of Chico week, which means you helped us put together this
week's paper! And it's a big one, packed with all your favorite
people, places and things. We also got into the game and put together
a list of editors' picks, featuring some fun and (hopefully) funny
"Best" selections of our own.
In news, Ken Smith covers the DA's investigation into the shooting
death of 19-year-old Breanne Sharpe during a confrontation with
police. Also, Bob Speer revisits the case of Steven Edward
Crittenden, the man on death row for brutally killing Dr. William and
Katherine Chiapella in Chico in 1987, and who was just granted a new trial.
Other highlights this week include a discussion about solar farms in
Greenways, a review of Emmylou Harris and Rodney Crowell at Laxson
Auditorium in Music and a glowing review by Juan-Carlos Selznick of
the new space thriller Gravity in Reel World. Plus beets! And a whole
lot more.
Next week: Poetry 99
