Pride in Chico
This weekend marks the first time a gay-pride event will be held smack-dab
in the center of Chico. Pride Weekend includes a festival Saturday in City
Plaza and the fact the event has moved downtown seemed significant to us.
Turns out it's significant to those in the Stonewall Alliance, which is
putting on the event, and others in the LGBT community as well. The CN&R
wanted to take this opportunity to interview a few locals on what it means
to be gay in Chico, and how far the gay-rights movement has come over the
past few decades.
As always, there's much more--we take a look at the Chico Green School
getting shut down, how the Private Industry Council failed so profoundly,
and just how good the curried goat is at Chico's new Jamaican restaurant.
Bonus this week: Voting for Best of Chico begins! Log onto

your faves. New this year: An opportunity to tell us a little bit about one
of your favorites, with a chance to get your blurb printed in the paper!
Until next time,
