Pedal power
Welcome to the Bike Issue! For the third year now, the CN&R has put together a fun package of stories all related to those two-wheeled things you pedal around town. With Bike Month starting up on Sunday (yes, it's almost May!) and the Wildflower Century race in Chico that same day, it seemed the perfect time to highlight the world of bicycling. We've got features on the Chico Corsa Cycling Club, businesses that encourage employees to bike to work, making the move from four wheels to two, and how if you've gotten your bike jacked in Chico you're far from alone. And that's not all--there's a news story about the city's new bike-path artery along Highway 99; a health story about a local sports-med doctor; a Q&A with cycling activist Ed McLaughlin's new PSA ad campaign; and much, much more.
We at the CN&R, after doing a ton of research and interviews on bicycling, have decided to sign up for the Chico Bike Challenge--heck, many of us already bike to work regularly anyway! The challenge starts May 1 and lasts the entire month. Go to www.chicobikechallenge.org to sign yourself or your business up.
See you on the streets!
