Way to go, Wilco!
Eco-friendly alt-rockers create an online ride-sharing forum
After a lot of thought and concern for the environment, alternative rockers Wilco have come up with a way for their fans to reduce the carbon footprint associated with attending the band’s gigs.
Wilco is currently on tour and will be playing San Francisco in August at Golden Gate Park. The band practices recycling and uses just a few vehicles while on the road, but came up with a service to address the greatest environmental impact of their schedule: travel of their fans.
Passenger Side, an online ride-share board designed to get fans to carpool to shows, launched last week on Wilco’s Web site (www.wilcoworld.net). The service is easy to use and helps fans (18 and older) connect with others in their area who will be attending a concert (which will in turn cut back on those ghastly parking prices).
