Waiter Rants
The Waiter
If you’ve ever paid $30 for Kobe beef accompanied by baby greens, tomatillos and served with a ciabatta roll, only to find you just ordered a hamburger, then you’re prepared for the misdirection of Waiter Rant. The critically acclaimed blog that spawned this title is full of beautiful and ghastly tales of the food-service industry, and most media hype would lead you to believe the book is more of the same. Unfortunately, what you get is a story of an above-average waiter trying to become an average writer. The Waiter, recently unmasked as Steve Dublanica, even goes so far as to include a conversation with a coworker who proclaims he should write a book. There are some good stories sprinkled in, which give a unique view of a waiter’s life, but not enough to call this anything but an ordinary hamburger.
