Virtual museum to get real
Chico’s Northern California History Museum, which so far has been offering “Museum Without Walls” programs, is about to get real walls. The museum’s directors and Chico State University announced that they have selected a design construction team for the facility, pending final approval from the CSU Board of Trustees.
The museum, which is a joint project between the university and community organizers, will be located adjacent to the Bidwell Mansion Visitors’ Center and serve as a gateway to the CSU, Chico campus.
“We are very excited that the museum is soon to be a museum with walls,” Greg Liggett, museum executive director, said in a press release. Construction could begin as early as this fall and be completed in 2008. The museum will be designed according to green building standards and will showcase the North State’s natural diversity and geologic history.
