Use your time off for good
Two options for Alternative Spring Break
We know the semester just started, so thinking about the next break is probably just a tease. But for Chico State students hoping to make a difference during their time off, CAVE is now accepting applications for Alternative Spring Break. This year there are two options, going to New Orleans or the California redwoods, and the cost ranges from $250-$950, with some help through fund-raisers. Here’s a little taste of each. For more information on the trips and how to apply, log onto www.aschico.com/cave.
New Orleans: Students will work with Habitat for Humanity to help rebuild one of the poorest areas of New Orleans—St. Bernard Parish. The trip will include tours of the city as well as structured work hours. March 14-21.
Redwood National Park: This trip, sponsored by CAVE and Adventure Outings, will be a mixture of sustainable, leave-no-trace backpacking and volunteer work with park rangers. The work ranges from habitat restoration to trail maintenance.
