Twat did he say?
During a pre-recorded performance aired on Late Night with Conan O’Brien during NBC’s recent green week, Radiohead frontman and environmental champion Thom Yorke used a common British vulgarity to describe President Bush.
Dedicating a song’s chorus of “denial/denial” to “that twat who walked away from the Kyoto agreement,” Yorke’s thinly veiled reference seems to have been censored during the broadcast. But the network has since put up an unedited version at its Web site, NBC.com.
The recording was filmed exclusively for the talk show and its eco-friendly week of broadcasting. In addition to knocking the president in some prattle at the beginning of the performance, Yorke informed the audience that he and the band had recorded in their native Britain because one flight to New York produces carbon emissions equivalent to driving a car for an entire year.
