Trumpsters and tough times

People who support Donald Trump are more likely to report financial insecurity

If you’re wondering how Donald Trump made it this far in the race to become president of the United States, insecurity among his supporters likely has something to do with it—financial insecurity, that is. According to a poll recently conducted by Gallup, Americans who have a positive opinion of Trump are much more likely to report high levels of financial anxiety. For example, those who view the billionaire businessman positively are 23 percent more likely to say they don’t feel good about their financial situation; 17 percent more likely to say they don’t feel good about the amount they spend; and 13 percent more likely to say they are cutting back on spending.
