Trick or treat

October is National Fair Trade Awareness Month. Help support fair wages for those who pick the cocoa beans that get made into chocolate by giving out Fair Trade Certified chocolates this Halloween. In addition to providing a living wage to third-world workers, giving fair-trade chocolates to all those little pirates, princesses, ghosts and witches that come to your door also supports safe and humane working conditions (including a greatly reduced use of pesticides) in the cocoa fields, as well as the availability of adequate housing and medical care for cocoa-bean pickers.
