Triathletes triumph

Chico Triathlon Club member Sean Molina was the overall winner of the Granite Bay Triathlon on Saturday, Aug. 15. The club also seized top honors at the event in the Northern California Tri Club Spring Team Championship for the second year running.

The club, which formed in 2010, sent 31 triathletes ranging in ages from 9 to 78 to compete in the triathlon and triathlon relay at the Folsom State Lake Recreation Area. The race consists of a three-quarter-mile swim, 13 mile bike ride and 5 mile run.

Other members of the local group won awards for events in their individual age groups, as well as awards for fastest swim split and fastest bike split.
