Just look at 1st & Green, an Internet program developed by the 2012 Super Bowl Host Committee to help offset carbon emissions and water consumption associated with the big game. On their homepage (www.1standgreen.com), you can check their progress—and sign up to contribute to the total. Here are some of the factors they measure:

• Reusable water bottles filled

• Reusable shopping bags used

• Length of showers, teeth brushing
