Totally Mommy
The couple behind the Totally Laime trio of podcasts have another winner with Totally Mommy. I began listening to comedy-interview show Totally Laime a few years back and haven’t been able to stop. Podcast host Elizabeth Laime and husband Andy Rosen subsequently launched the relationship-centric Totally Married, and most recently, just prior to the birth of their first child, Laime started Totally Mommy. Once again, I’m enamored—and I’m not even a parent, unless you count dogs as children (which I sort of do). What’s so refreshing about Laime—and Rosen, though he only makes special appearances on this podcast—is that she is totally uncensored. No topic is taboo, no details too weird or gross or unpleasant to discuss (finger-painting with poop, realities of childbirth, dealing with self-identity issues when entering parenthood …). Each episode of Totally Mommy features a different guest, and they range from Laime’s sister to comedians to other mothers with something interesting to say. Each week Laime and guest go through “the good, the bad and the funny”—with three examples of the joys and the difficulties of motherhood. They also take reader questions and, as always, they keep it real.
