Three-year detour
If you’ve driven along Magnolia Avenue in Chico lately, you know that it’s closed to through traffic between West Fifth and Sixth avenues. You might as well get used to taking a different route: Magnolia is going to stay closed until the end of June 2010, while Enloe Medical Center builds an addition on the site, part of its Century Project expansion plan.
When that’s done, the new Magnolia Avenue will open. According to a press release, it will be located approximately 180 feet west of the road’s current location.
Also, because of the construction, no parking is allowed on the south side of Sixth Avenue and the north side of Fifth Avenue.
