Take five!
Small breaks can help avoid big crashes
A quick five-minute break from working can help increase productivity and alertness, alleviate pain and soreness, and even help avoid on-the-job accidents, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC offers some tips for making the most of a break on their website at www.cdc.gov.
• Break for a few minutes at least once an hour.
• Include some movement in every break.
• If you can’t get away from a desk, stand up, stretch and walk in place without looking at your computer monitor.
• Get out of your chair to answer phone calls.
• Change positions at your workstation regularly.
