Supes weigh in
They’ll have the final say on future development.
The Planning Commission had its say—now it’s time for the decision-makers to do their thing. The Butte County Board of Supervisors will assess development options for the updated general plan Tuesday and Wednesday (July 29-30) starting at 9 a.m. at County Center in Oroville.
Specifics are online at www.buttegeneralplan.net. Readers’ digest version: The Board will consider Paradise from 9:10 a.m. to noon Tuesday, Oroville from 1 p.m. until approximately 4:30 Tuesday, Gridley and Biggs from 9:10 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, and North County—including Chico—for the remainder of the day until the board’s final vote at 4:15 p.m. Public comment periods are a half-hour each, during the first hour of each session.
County planning commissioners went over the 31 “study areas” May 30 and June 13—the latter at the height of the Humboldt Fire. The commission favored growth in urban areas rather than rural, unincorporated areas. Supervisors, however, will have the final say on land-use policies.
