Summer safety
Tips for surviving the heat
With temperatures reaching over 100 degrees, Butte County Public Health is reminding residents to be smart this summer and stay hydrated and cool (that goes for kids and pets, too!). Here are some tips for staying healthy and safe in the heat:
• Drink plenty of fluids—especially water—even if you're not thirsty.
• Avoid strenuous activity during the heat of the day.
• Enjoy that A/C.
• Never leave children or pets alone in a parked car.
• When outdoors with pets, make sure to bring water and watch for signs of heat exhaustion (heavy panting, lethargy, vomiting, etc.).
