Speed bluegrass …
Welcome to the next generation of bluegrass. Kansas natives Split Lip Rayfield play The Blue Room, 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21. The band consists of instrumental and vocal virtuosos who display a penchant for quirky arrangements. They draw upon such diverse influences as Dixieland jazz, Latin and rock to color their highly individualistic adaptations of the traditional bluegrass form. What that means is Split Lip is great! Pictured is interior artwork from the group’s latest Bloodshot Records CD, Never Make It Back. Also on the bill are Robots Hate Cowboys and special guests. Admission is a mere $5. It all happens at The Blue Room, 139 West First St. (above Collier Hardware). More information: 895-3749.
