So much you can recycle
Steve “Woody” Culleton was mayor of Paradise when the Town Council voted to sign onto the U.S. Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. Two months later, he’s back to being a regular councilman, but his passion for conservation remains intense.
Culleton is particularly concerned about waste—trash and the landfill, sure; wasted opportunities, too. He’s encouraged by how many residents participate in curbside recycling, yet he feels even more would join in just with a minor shift in mind-set.
Don’t worry about what can’t be recycled. If your garbage hauler offers commingled recycling, it has people who sort through “green” trash. Instead, think of how much can be recycled and “diverted from our waste stream. The decision to divert and recycle,” he said, “happens while the item is in your hand.”
There’s more than you see above, too. For information, check out RecycleButte.net.
