When the school year kicks up again around here, you can bet that legendary Chico reggae crew Mystic Roots will return from their new San Diego home for the party, especially for Labor Day festivies, and this past weekend Coot Dog (pictured) and the boys were in town for three shows: the Concert in the Park, LaSalle’s and Scotty’s Boat Landing (which was cancelled due to low turnout from the tubing crackdown). Local fans welcomed the band back in droves, packing Children’s Park for Friday night’s free concert.

The So Cal shift has been good to Mystic Roots. In addition to recently winning an L.A. Music Award for best pop/reggae record, the band will soon be featured in an hour-long documentary on the life of Mystic Roots for a new TLC series this fall.
