Simmons signs with UOP

After months of speculation, basketball powerhouse Amber Simmons enrolled at the University of the Pacific, making a final break from her ties to Chico State’s Division II program and its embattled coach, Molly Goodenbour.

Simmons will sit out the 2007-08 season with Pacific before spending her last year of eligibility playing Division I ball under former Chico State coach Lynn Roberts.

An All-American as a Wildcat, Simmons told the Stockton Record she was looking forward to making the transition to a new division.
