Time to weigh in

All this talk about heavy vehicles on our roads got us thinking about how much those SUVs on our streets weigh. There are two criteria, gross vehicle weight and curb weight. GVW is the maximum a vehicle can safely weigh when loaded, including the vehicle itself, driver, passengers and cargo. Curb weight is the weight of a vehicle that is ready to drive, with all fluid levels topped up and a full tank of gas, but without occupants or cargo. Weights vary slightly depending upon options and vehicle year. These weights are based on 2002 or newer models. (Weights below are in pounds.)
