Village people
If Butte County were shrunk to a village of 100 (and all demographic ratios remained intact)…After seeing one of those “If the world were a village of 100” breakdowns on a flier the other day (where Asians would rule, only one-third of the population would be white and there’d be half an American in the bunch), we decided to apply the same formula to Butte County.
If Butte County were shrunk to a village of 100 (and all demographic ratios remained intact):
80—people would be white.
11—would be Hispanic/Latino.
3—would be Asian.
2—would be Native American.
1—would be black.
2—would be of Scottish-Irish descent
8—would have been born in a foreign land.
65—would have been born in California.
51—would be female
20—would be below poverty level.
75—of those employed would be age 54 or below
2—of those employed would work in government.
1—of those employed would work at Chico State.
1—of those employed would work at Enloe Hospital.
20—would be disabled (includes vision).
