Saving Bidwell Mansion
Fund opened to keep the historic house open
Five months after its closing was announced, Bidwell Mansion now has a way of staying open. The California Department of Parks and Recreation says in a press release that “due to popular demand from the community,” a Save the Mansion fund has been created to help keep the state historic park open.
The fund can accept tax-deductible donations for any amount and from any person or organization. The money will be used strictly for park operating costs next fiscal year, after the mansion was scheduled to close. Donations can be dropped off at the mansion’s Visitor Center or sent to Bidwell Mansion State Historic Park, 525 The Esplanade, Chico, CA 95926. Checks should be made out to California State Parks with “Save the Mansion” in the memo line.
The center is open Saturday through Monday from noon to 5 p.m.
