San Fran water-bottle ban?
S.F. Board of Supes will consider banning sale of plastic water bottles
The City by the Bay is poised to be the first major U.S. city to ban certain sales of plastic water bottles.
San Francisco Supervisor David Chiu recently introduced a proposal to ban the sale of plastic water bottles at events occurring on public land with more than 100 attendees, according to Time magazine. Additionally, the proposal aims to keep the city from spending public money to buy water in plastic bottles.
The International Bottled Water Association sent out a press release stating that “[e]fforts to eliminate or reduce access to bottled water will force consumers to choose less healthy drink options.”
The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is expected to vote on the ban no later than early February.
