Rethink your wardrobe
Tips for a greener closet
There are many ways we use our hard-earned money to tell the world what’s important to us. One of those is in the way we dress. In an effort to be greener in daily life, here are some tips from Waste Management on creating an eco-friendly wardrobe:
• Donate old clothes that you don’t wear anymore.
• Shop vintage—check out the scores of thrift stores in town to find used gems. Consignment shops are another way to find high-quality, gently used items.
• Transform your old clothes into something new. Turn worn-out jeans into shorts or a cute skirt.
• Shop at environmentally friendly stores. When you do buy new, check the tags to see what materials are included and stay away from synthetic fabrics like polyester, in favor of organic cotton, hemp and bamboo threads.
