Claims made during GOP debate don’t add up
Viewers of all political persuasions—about 24 million of them—tuned into the first GOP debate of the 2016 election. The folks at FactCheck.org, however, looked past the spectacle to crunch some numbers, finding fudged facts about job growth, Obamacare's impact and failing banks. Incorrect claims include Donald Trump's boasted net worth of $10 billion (Forbes says $4 billion, and the Bloomberg Billionaire's Index's more recent findings indicate $2.9 billion). Jeb Bush claimed graduation rates “improved by 50 percent” while he was governor (it was actually 13 percent). Bush also claimed to have cut Florida taxes by $19 billion, but much of the cuts were federal actions he had nothing to do with.
