Religious groups on same-sex marriage
Numbers are up in religious support of gay marriage
As the Supreme Court begins hearing arguments on legalizing same-sex marriage this week, the Public Religion Research Institute released numbers showing that religious groups in this country are increasingly supportive of same-sex marriages. In 2003, 36 percent of white mainline Protestants and 35 percent of Catholics were in support, and today those numbers have grown to 62 and 60, respectively.
