Reeling through the years …

For something like 10 years now, Chico’s The Pub Scouts has been playing traditional Irish reels and melodies to the delight of local tavern patrons. Led by musician Michael Cannon (pictured), The Pub Scouts continue to perform every Friday from 4 to 7 p.m., at Duffy’s Tavern, 337 Main St., in downtown Chico. Often, local caterer and former City Councilman David Guzzetti provides a meal (generally consisting of mouth-watering, lightly seasoned potatoes, sliced bread and zingy spreads) at no extra cost to patrons. Obviously, these are not merely “gigs” but full-scale events … uh, in a low-key kinda way! Admission’s usually a mere buck at the door.
