Radical enviros suspected in arson
Federal authorities were left scratching their heads last week while investigating the charred remains of three custom eco-friendly homes in a posh new cul-de-sac in a rural area near Seattle.
FBI agents found no incendiary devices during a preliminary search of the destruction left in the wake of an early morning arson fire that engulfed the unoccupied multimillion-dollar homes, reported The Associated Press. Instead, the federal agents believe those responsible for setting the fires used wood, paper or other combustible materials.
Authorities did find a banner spray painted with the initials of the radical eco-group Earth Liberation Front. ELF has claimed responsibility for similar crimes dating back to the ’90s. In this case it appears the group took issue with claims the homes were built green. The banner noted that “McMansions” built in rural cluster developments are not green.
