Premonition

Rated 3.0

After receiving the news that her husband has been killed in a freak car accident while on a business trip, Linda Hanson (Sandra Bullock) awakens the next day to find him alive and well. Soon she realizes that she is in the course of an extended premonition, and that rising with each morning finds the week out of order. And as she struggles to put the jigsaw pieces together in a desperate effort to avert the tragedy, she soon discovers that she’s not entirely happy with the big picture. Aside from a score heavy on the treacle and some sluggish pacing, Premonition is kind of a clever piece of work, with solid performances, some interesting subtext and script that (for the most part) manages to pull off the smoke and mirrors of the nonlinear narrative. Not a movie for the irony-impaired … Alanis Morissette wouldn’t get the ending. Feather River Cinemas, Paradise
