Politico now a politician
Butte County Democrat chairman running for Paradise school board
Local Democrats know Justin Meyers as the driven 23-year-old who took the reins of the Butte County Democratic Central Committee. Now the party organizer is a politician, too, having been duly certified as a candidate for the Paradise school board.
“I’m running because I’m a concerned citizen who cares about our schools,” said Meyers (pictured), who’s worked as coordinator of youth activities for the town. “I’m not running because I’m a Democrat.”
Only one of the three incumbents up for election—Donna Nelson—filed with the registrar. Teacher Tom Conroy and parent Judith Peters were the other filers.
In Chico, school board President Jann Reed was one of two certified candidates; the other was Jjon Mohr, listed as a professional sound provider on the registrar’s Web site. Rick Anderson previously announced he would not seek re-election.
